REDUCTION IN WAGES.
AVOIDING FURTHER GUT. THE PRIME MINISTER'S HOPE. [Br TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday. / The hope that no further reduction in wages would be necessary was expressed to-day by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, when questioned oa the subject. " No one regrets more than the Government that the position of the Dominion necessitated a reduction in salaries and wages earlier in the year," .said Mr. Forbes. "I may say that the question has not been considered in any way . by the present Government, and it iB hardly necessary for me to state that we earnestly hope no sacrifices in connection with salaries, wages or pensions in future will have to be asked of thn people." '
