ST. ANDREW'S DAY.
A special Scottish programme was a feature of the evening held by the -St. Andrew's Society of Auckland in the Town Hall concert chamber on Saturday in celebration of St. Andrew's Day. The president, Mr. J. Howie, presided. Tv-o brief addresses were given in the earliar' part of the evening, as well as a number of items, and at the conclusion of the_ programme supper was served. Hiis followed by dancing, the music beii'ig supplied by Bolton's Apache Orchestra. A lecture on the origin of Effc. Andrew's Day was given by Mr. J. W. Shaw, and Miss Geddes gave an address on Mrs. Kennedy Eraser, the composer of Hebridean folk music. Others who contributed to the programme were-Mrs. Rattray and Miss Edna Peace, who sang, and Mr. Jury, who gave a xylophone solo. 1 ' .
