BIRTHDAY OF PIONEER.
GATHERING AT PAPAROA.
89 YEARS IN DOMINION

There was a large gathering of residents in the Garrison Hall last evening to celebrate the 94th birthday of Mr. William Clark, of Woodlands, Rohia. Many old settlers and family descendants were present.. Mr. T. Wilson, on behalf of the settlers, tendered good wishes to Mr. Clark and congratulated him on his remarkable health, and Mr. Wilson referred to Mr.. Clark's long and active life, and his association with the hardships of the pioneering days in North Auckland. Mr. Clark's home at Rehia was a welcome, refuge for travellers in the oid days on the journey to Wairoa. Mr. Clark arrived in New Zealand with his parents in 1842 and went to Northern Wairoa in 1853.
Members of Mr. Clark's family are three sons and four daughters. There are 37 grandchildren, 43 great-grand-children and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Clark died in 1906.
