TEMPERANCE UNION.
SOUTH AUCKLAND WOMEN. [FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Wednesday. There was an attendance of over 100 delegates at the convention of the South Auckland Women's Christian Temperance Union at Hamilton to-dav. Mis. J. M. Jones, of Hamilton, presided. A welcome was extended to the convention bv the Mayor of Hamilton, Dr. F. P. Pinfold, the Rev. W. H. Hocking, representing the Ministers' Association, and Mr. C. W. White, representing the New Zealand Alliance. Mr. Hocking said ho knew t here was a divergence of opinion or: the, subject, but he considered the alliance did the right, tiling in agreeing to the postponement, of the licensing poll. Addresses were given by Mrs. Jones, Mrs. S. 11. P. Puryman, of Johnsonville, and Sister Hobbs. of the Methodist Maori Missions. The election of officers resulted:—President. Mrs. J. M. Jones: vice-president, Mrs. J. H. Starnes; secretary, Mrs. S. Craig; treasurer. Mrs. E. J. Pavcy.
