GYMNASTIC DISPLAY.
OTAHUHU GIRLS' CLUB
A splendid display of gymnastics and physical drill was given by the St. Andrews' Girls' Gymnasium Club in the Station Road Hall, Otahuhu, on Tuesday evening. The Rev. A. M. EJliffe presided at the opening over a large attendance. Each of the three sections of the club, tiny tots, juniors and seniors, participated in the programme, the items being: Grecian drill, tableaux, fancy steps, and club-swinging, by the seniors; garland drill, by the" juniors; swarming, jumping, balancing, parallel bars, races, and a very effecfcive and spectacular lantern maze by the combined junior and senior sections: songs and movements by the tiny tots. Agnes Weir gave a recitation. June McLaren gave a" golliwog dance, Joyce Edelsten played a pianoforte solo, and Miss Moffat, who played the accompaniments, also gave pianoforte solos. A comedv sketch, entitled, "Wanted a Governess," was presented by the senior girls, the plavers being Misses M. Pinhey. J. Gardiner. A. Weir. J. Wilson, Z. Fearnlev, C. 01.sen. L. Dyne, 0. Johnson, B. Tester and J. McFetridge. . At. the interval the prizes won during the session were presented by Mrs. A. M. Ellilfe. The winners were:—Seniors: Drill. Z. Fearnley: apparatus. Jean Gardiner: most, improved, Betty lester. Juniors: Drill. Olga Johnson; apparatus, Plivllis Bennett; most improved, Dorothy OLsen. Tiny tots: Most improved, Pat. McFetridge. Bouquets were presented to Mrs. Elliffe, Miss' Moffat, Miss Neilson, the president, pnd Mrs. Edelsten, the the club instructor.
