FARM SCHEME FOR BOYS.
A CONFESSION OF FAILURE, ONLY THREE LEFT ON LAND." [by telegraph.—spEcr.xr. 'reporter.] WELLINGTON. Tuesday. The failure of the farm scheme for New Zealand boys was-reported in the annual report of the Immigration Department which was tabled in the House of Repn- ■- sentatives to-day. " Of the 20 boys who ,applied, 13 were placed on farms and three of them- were still on the land. Seven boys relinquished farming for various reasons, one -was attending the Massey Agricultural College, one was. under the care of the Child Welfare Department and one was unemployed. The type of boy was disappointing, the department confesses, and the remaining seven boys could not be placed becanse farmers did' not apply for them. Since last September practically no inquiries had been received. - «
