ATHENIAN CLUB.

A RACING CLUB EVENING.

Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wright were host and hostess at the Athenian Club evening, held at the Amateur Operatic Society Hall on Saturday. There was a large attendance of members, also visitors from the Dunedin and Philistines Clubs. The programme and decorations took the form of a racing carnival evening, and at its commencement a sketch was given on the stage entitled "At the Races." Favours and novelties connected with racing were also distributed and these caused a great deal of amusement. The programme, which included musical, elocutionary, vocal and instrumental itorns, was given bv the following:—Miss Beryl Smith, Miss YVoods, Miss K. Christie, Airs. Hastings, Miss Marjorie Brooks, Miss Peggy Holmes, Mr. Stan. Pritchard and tho " Snappy Three." The dance music was supplied ,by Mason's Orchestra. Among those present were:—Mrs. W. W.
