ATHENIAN CLUB.
A RACING CLUB EVENING.
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wright were host and hostess at the Athenian Club evening, held at the Amateur Operatic Society Hall on Saturday. There was a large attendance of members, also visitors from the Dunedin and Philistines Clubs. The programme and decorations took the form of a racing carnival evening, and at its commencement a sketch was given on the stage entitled "At the Races." Favours and novelties connected with racing were also distributed and these caused a great deal of amusement. The programme, which included musical, elocutionary, vocal and instrumental itorns, was given bv the following:—Miss Beryl Smith, Miss YVoods, Miss K. Christie, Airs. Hastings, Miss Marjorie Brooks, Miss Peggy Holmes, Mr. Stan. Pritchard and tho " Snappy Three." The dance music was supplied ,by Mason's Orchestra. Among those present were:—Mrs. W. W. Wright, who wore a frock of black and gold sequinned net and lace; Mrs. Crump, flame georgette; Mrs. W. 1). Taylor, palest pink satin beaute; Mis. 11. Cruickshank, black lace; Mrs. W. H. Turner, green lace and georgette; Mrs. Howard Gaudin, black lace; Mi's. 11. A. Cornish, oau do nil embroidered georgette; Mrs. A. Prentice, peach shaded georgette; Mrs. A. Johnston, floral tulle and silver tissue; Mrs. A. Robinson, tulle and gold embroidered net; Mrs. W. Fair, water green georgette; Mrs. A. G. Mabee, delft blue ninon; Mrs. S. A. .Andrew, Nile green georgette; Mrs. Houlahan, amethyst georgette; Mrs. Carlson, rose chiffon velvet and gold lace; Mrs. W. Belts, primrose and silver frock; Mrs. B. Kissen, black embossed georgette; Mrs. Gilmorc, delphinium blue taffeta; Mis. O'Connor, gold beaded georgette: Mrs. Jarman, pale pink georgette; Mrs. Hayden, red chiffon; Mrs. Trask, black lace tiered frock; Mrs. Jakes, flame shaded taffeta; Mrs. Lewis, black lace; Mrs. Middleton, black ninon; Mrs. Richardson, black georgette; Mrs A. Patterson, black georgetto with diamante trimming; Mrs. Hastings, black ring velvet; Miss Roberts, black georgette; Miss Murray, black georgette; Miss K. Christie, pink frilled georgette; Miss Nonio Wright, frilled pink georgette; Miss Marjorie Brooks, lemon georgette; Miss Peggy Holmes, Burgundy red satin; Miss Walker, flame satin; Miss N. Griffin, rose shaded chiffon; Miss E. Reid, floral ninon; Miss Beryl Smith, floral ninon; Miss Smithers, cream georgette; Miss Olga Macduff, green flowered chiffon: Miss E.
