.Although the sun shone brightly on Saturday the wind was bitingly cold and, in consequence, furs of all descriptions and heavy coats were very popular. Many attractive tweed suits wore to be seen, trim and smartly cut, and rivalling them in favour wero the coat frocks, also carried out in mixed tweeds and worn with felt hats in a contrasting shade. One of the most popular colours was a slate blue carried out in a tiny check and worn with a deeper blue felt hat. Shoes frequently were of the same shade as the prevailing colour in the frock or suit, or were parti-coloured "to tone.
