COUNTRY PARTY AND LABOUR.

. Sir, —In the Herald of 'May 26, which has just been received, Mr, C. 11. Mollsop insinuates that Mr. J. S. Montgomerie and myself had made, or, at least, discussed, an arrangement regarding tho Franklin electorate. I must again stale that I individually or the Country Party executive have never discussed or made such an arrangement with regard to any electorate with the Labour Party or any member thereof. The Country Party has never approached any parly with the idea of an arrangement and the only one which has ever approached the Country Party is tho one which is now trying to discredit it. It reminds one of a rejected lover scandalising the girl who rejected him. Colville, May 30. 11. 0. Mei.lsoi*.
