RAILWAY OFFICERS.

TRANSFER OF MR. E. CASEY. MR. DAVIDSON'S RETIREMENT. Mr. K. Casey, who for the past five years has been stationed in Auckland as divisional superintendent for North Island railways, is about to take over the duties of assistant chief engineer of railways with headquarters in Wellington. The vacancy is created by the retirement of Mr. W. R. Davidson at tho end of this month. Mr. Casey will enter upon his new position next Wednesday. It is 33 years since Mr. Davidson joined the railway service and for somo time past his health has been indifferent. He began as an engineering cadet, and lias gained wide experience of railway engineering in all parts of New Zealand. In 1925 ho made an extensivo tour while studying railway systems abroad, and the following year he was acting chief engineer. Ho had much to do with the planning and construction of tho now railway station at Auckland.
