ADRIFT IN BREAKERS.

OBJECT LIKE BOAT'S HULL. DOUBT AS TO SIGNIFICANCE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] DARGAVILLE, Tuesday. The object thought to be the hull of a capsized boat that was reported last Thursday to be floating in the breakers on the west coast was also seen by the harbourmaster, Captain Mitchell, who stated that it was about 40ft long. He was unable to investigate further as the sea was rough and the visibility poor.

A number of residents of Dargaville searched the coast at the week-end, but were unable to find any trace of the object. In view of the uncertainty as to whether there has been a tragedy it is suggested that the Government should have the coast searched by aeroplauo.
