MEETING AT LYNNDALE.
WHITTEN IN GOOD FORM,
A meeting conducted by the Lynndale Amateur Athleti.o Club was held on Saturday afternoon when conditions were ideal for running. The 100 yards final was a good race and was won by H. Greep, who beat H. Garlick by two feet, with the rest of the field close up. The 220 yards waa run oS in one race, but the backmarkerg had no chance of getting through a large field. The one mile handicap was a good contest and over the last 600 yards the leaders frequently changed. Over the last 100 yards, however, F. L, Whitten sustained a fine sprint to win by eight yards from Cooper, with A. B. Brotvne close up third. The winner also ran well in tho 880 yards when he just failed by inches to catch J. Crum :in excellent time. J. Bracewell looked .the winner of the quarter-mile handicap with 50 yards - to go, but once again Whitten finished brilliantly and in an exciting finish a dead heat was declared.
