Play in tho boys' section of the Auckland secondary schools' lawn terms championships was continued at the Stanley Street courts on Saturday morning under the control of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association. The open doubles, 6emor singles and junior singles competitions were continued, the final stages being almost reached in' the latter two events. The tourney will .be completed next Saturday if the remaining semi-finals and finals of the open doubles competition can bo decided in timo. TAKAPUNA GALA

PROGRAMME OF SPORTS

A most successful gala and sports afternoon was held in the Takapuna, District School grounds on Saturday. A display of Swedish drill was given by the boss, of the school, and folk dancing and ribbon dances were given by the girls. During the afternoon a number of championship events were held for the pupils of the Milford and Takapuna Schools. The boys' relay race was won by De Vere's team, and the girls' event by Kathleen Payno's team. The winners of these events received a Horbert Smith Trust Cup for the team, and miniatures for oach competitor. A basketball match between the past and present pupils was won by the past team. The girls' tennis doubles tournament was won by Mario Hanner and Kathleen Leach. The boys' tournament was won by J. Hiqhins ond T. "Wrisrht. The Mayoress of Takapuna, Mrs. <T. W. "Williamson, presented the' prizes at the conclusion of the events. Musical items were given by the Takapuna Municipal Band.
