BRICK BUILDINGS.

Sir, —Probably no more opportune time than the present affords to draw attention to the state of brickwork. A large proportion ot the brick walls in Auckland are not anchored to the interior and in the event of an earthquake the external walls would fall outwards. A simple and inexpensive method of anchoring the wall to the interior is by tierods. These penetrate the walls and have a disc or letterS on the outside face of the wall, so giving great support to the wall. In my opinion, the City Council should frame a by-law immediately for the enforcement of the above. Safety First.
