EARTHQUAKE REFUGEES.

Sir, —Your admirable leading /article suggests that one man shpuld be put in charge of all the efforts for the immediate relief of the sufferers at Napier. I hope this will be done at once. It is evident that there will be plenty of money to pay all expenses. But immediate action is required. I suggest that steamers should be sent to Napier and the women and children should be taken from Napier to Auckland, Wellington and other places as soon as possible. Even small places, like Whangarei, would willingly receive some of them. The injured should be removed as soon as ever it is safe to do so. We have the ship's, and we have the money. Let us act, and act quickly. J.H.C.
