NOISY MOTOR-CYCLES.
Sir, —Why do wc not enforce our traffic by-laws, one of which refers to motorcyclists riding without silencers on "their machines? At the present time these cyclists are allowed to rush, shrieking, even up Street, without being fined' heavily, as they deserve to be. The main roads are made hideous by them and the road through Pain ell is nothing but a speed track. The ratepayers have supplied the money for the concrete roads, which are being used to depreciate property, for who can live near such an ear-splitting din as goes on around the Domain entrance and between Newmarket and tho city all day on Sunday, early mornin" and late at night. Surely such a public nuisance will not be endured any longer by the Auckland citizens. Why not follow the example of Wellington and set up a vigilance committee in each suburb a% a ratepayers' association, with a central body to which deegc.tes could go and bring pressure to bear to abate tlia nuisance? Parsf.ix Ratepayer.
