WORK OF THE CHURCHES. MANY REPORTS RECEIVED. The Auckland Baptist Assembly held its monthly meeting in the Baptist Tabernacle and was presided over by tho Rev. A. J. Grigg. The report of the social service committee was presented by Rev. J. Hiddlestone. Tho Rev. F. E. Comrie, president of the New Zealand Alliance, sent a. com-, munication urging that renewed efforts bo made to fight the liquor traffic. The matter was referred to the .'temperance committee. : There was a roquost from the Pukekohe. Church for an evangelistic mission. .This matter was referred to tho evangelistic committee. : Favourable reports were received from Morrinsville, Cambridge, Tauranga apd Whangaroi. Thrco churches, North Memorial, Shackloton Road and Whangarei, signified they would not need finan, rial assistance. The Rev. R. Stowa'rds reported for tho. home and foreign missions committees, tho financial statement was given liy Mr. J. Bigclow and. the findings and recommendations of tho finance committee regarding grants to churchbs wero made by Mr. W. Kendon.

In connection with tho,forthcoming departure of the Rev. A. S. Wilson, minister of Grange Road Baptist Church, a motion was passed placing on record the .assembly's recognition of the effective and spiritual ministry of Mr. 'Wilson during the ton years lie lias laboured in the city, and commending him to tho Canterbury Auxiliary and to tho church at St. Albans.
