FOG OVER HARBOUR.

DELAYS TO SHIPPING. DAY OF VARIED WEATHER. An unusual variety of weather was experienced in Auckland yesterday. Early in the morning the harbour and waterfront were enveloped in a dense fog which did not> disperse until nine o'clock. It was followed by bright sunshine until mid-day, but there were frequent heavy showers in the afternoon. Tlie conditions improved in the evening. The dense fog in the morning made navigation on the harbour very and the ferry steamers and other small craft had to proceed with caution. The Waipiata arrived from Wellington at seven o'clock, but she had l:o anchor in the stream for two hours until the fog cleared sufficiently to allow her to berth. The Waiotapu, which arrived from Los Angeles early in the morning, was granted pratique by eight o'clock, but the fog prevented her from berthing until an hour later.
