MUSICAL PLAY.

FUNCTION AT MANUREWA.

Typical Oriental settings were a feature of a delightful musical plav, "The Garden of Hjjppiness," presented by the Ma nure wa Methodist Bible Closscs in the local hall last week. The play, which comprised two acts of comedy and popular songs and dialogue, was organised and composed mainly by Mr. H. L. Pilcher, of Manurcwa. The sccno was laid in the flower garden of the palace of tho Mikado. Those participating were as follows: —Princess Lotus Blossom. Miss Iris Christopher; Mountain Lily, her companion, Miss Mabel Findlav; Prince Sake, Mr. H. E. Donaldson; the Mikado of Japan, Mr. F. Law; Baron San Sen, Prime Minister, Mr. H. Christopher; Captain Jolliboy, R.N., Mr. H. L Pilcher; Eastus, a nigger janitor, Mr. S. Craig; Felix, the cat. Master f). Christopher; Mikado's attendant, Mr. J. McNaughton; Geishas, Mrs. M. Pilcher, Misses E. Finlay, L. Gibson, S. Pegler, J. Brylinm, E. Cox, A. McNaughton. M. Waller, G. Vincent, M. Coss, D. Christopher, M. Richards, P. Webber, Al. Webber; otlicers of H.AI.S. Britannia, W. Braithwaite, W. Cox, J. Coss, J. Richards, 11. Tanslev. Miss M. Craig was pianiste and Mr. J. Donaldson assistant-pianist.
