ARRANGEMENTS BY STATE. APPRECIATION OF FAMILY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —rRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Thursday. The Prime Minister, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, has received from Sir Cyril Ward, on behalf of the whole family, grateful appreciation of the Government's arrangements for the State funeral of Joseph Ward. Particular mention is made of the railway and police services, the military and motor transport arrangements and of the services of the permanent head of the Prime Minister's Department, the secretary of tho Post and Telegraph Department and of officials of tho Department of Internal Affairs. The reverence and dignity with which tho whole funeral arrangements were organised and carried out, said Sir Cyril, had proved a very great comfort to members of the family. AUCKLAND'S TRIBUTE. CITY COUNCIL MOTION. A motion placing on record appreciation of tho services rendered to the Dominion by tho late Sir Joseph Ward was passed by the Auckland City Council last evening. The Mayor. Mr. G. Baildon. reported that 011 behalf of the councillors and the citizens ho had despatched telegrams to the Prime Ministry and the bereaved family, and had sent a wreath on behalf of the city. A copy of a telegram of acknowledgment from the Prime Minister was read to the council.
