MOTUIHI MARINE PARK.
CONDITIONS OF TRANSFER.
CARE OF' WATER SUPPLY.
Conditions concerning the taking ovef of a portion of Motuihi Island by the City Council as a marine park were submitted by the medical officer of health for Auckland, Dr. T. J. Hughes, to the council last evening. It was proposed that tho council should assume all responsibility for the wharf and for the road as far a3 the gates of the quarantine area, and should undertake to keep the road in good condition. As regards water supply, the spring and its gathering area, together with the two concrete reservoirs and water mains within the council's reserve, were to be taken over by the council as part of the reserve on condition that the spring, gathering area and reservoirs were effectively fenced in to prevent access of the public and liability to contamination. The council was to take over and maintain the petrol-driven pumping plant. Dr. Hughes stated that the Health Department was agreeable to hand over tho water supply only on condition that it was properly protected, that one reservoir was always filled, and that sufficient water was made available for the needs of the quarantine station and the Department of Agriculture. On the recommendation of the Parks Committee, it was decided to accept the conditions.
