'I ho President of (he Board of Trade, ■ Mr. William Graham, was asked in the House of Commons whether ho was satisfied, after examination of certain documents/ that Russian timber now being imported into Britain was produced by 'convict labour.

In reply the Minister said tho documents submitted to hiin lent support to the allegations which had been made in the House that some forced labour, including that of prisoners, was employed in tho timber industry of Russia, in the face of severe foreign competition.
