HOSPITAL WEEK.
SUM OF OVER £BOO RAISED.
SUCCESSFUL STREET APPEAL.
A sum estimated to exceed £7OO was raised by the annual street appeal conducted by tbft Auckland Hospital Auxilarv yesterday. With the money .obtained by tho auxiliary's activities during Hospital Week and donations, the total will be brought to over £BOO. The funds are to assist the needy, sick, and families who are in poor circumstances owing to illness. .
The Mayoress, Mrs. A. D. Campbell, said both the street appeal and the Hospital Week had been very successful. It was unfortunate that the appeal and tho drive of the Auckland Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association should be held in the satne week.' Last year the auxiliary had a similar misfortune as its collection coincided with the earthquake relief appeal. Yesterday's collection, however, showed a considerable advance over that for year.
Mis. Campbell thanked the public for its generous response aud also the members of various women s societies and colleges who had worked so hard for the cause. The success of the street appeal spoke volumes for the organisation and efficiency of the societies. Mrs. A. Kidd, president of the auxiliary, said she was well satisfied with the result of the appeal.
