POWER PLANT AT HUNTLY.

Sir, —In reference to the proposed new 15,000. lew. steam generating unit for the Auckland Electric-Power Board, why not erect it at Huntly ? There is plenty of coal, fresh water and land available. The enormous saving in coal freights warrants this, and surely it would not take longer to erect it in Huntly than in Auckland apart from an extra day or two to bring the machinery down. This unit would form the nucleus of a permanent standby plant, and as opportunity presented itself the machinery from King's Wharf power station could be removed to it, unit by unit. Efficiency.
