CRUISES IN PACIFIC.
MOVEMENTS OF WARSHIPS. DUNEDIN TO SAIL TO-DAY. After being in port for five days replenishing fuel and stores H.M.S. Dunedin is to sail at six o'clock this evening on a month's cruise to the South Sea Islands. The warship will proceed to "Nukualofa, Tonga, where Commodore G. Blake will make an official call. upon the Queen of Tonga. Afterwards the cruiser will visit Suva, Noumea (Now. Caledonia), and Vila (New Hebrides). The call at Noumea will be in the nature of a return compliment to the French for the visit of the cruiser Tourville to New Zealand last year, and at Vila the Dunedin will meet H.M.S. Veronica, with the High Commissioner for the-Western Pacific on board. The Dunedin is schoduled to return to Auckland on August. 2 and will afterwards cruise to Wellington and South Island ports. H.M.S. Veronica is making a more extensive cruise in the Pacific. Aftor visiting the Gilbert, Ellice, Solomon and New Hebrides Group, she will return to Suva in August, but her. itinerary afterwards has not been announced. H.M.S. Laburnum is also making an extensive cruise to the islands. She sailed from Auckland on June 18 and will not return until the middle of October.
