PAPATOETOE AFFAIRS.

WATER SUPPLY PROPOSAL. QUESTION OF EXTENSION. Tho Papatootoe Town Board met on Tuesday evening, the chairman, Mr. T. R. Smythcman, presiding. Messrs. Jones and Adams, the board's engineers, reported that so far as could bo ascertained the proposal to reticulate tho Manukau County Council area adjoining the town district would call for a consumption of water of approximately 25,000 gallons daily. Should the scheme eventuate this would mean the pump would require to be working about 16 hours daily, as against the eight v hours required at present. They understood that the area comprised 1000 acres, supplying about 230 houses and 900 residents. In tho event of this scheme going ahead, the board would havo to consider the advisability of installing a stand-by pump. Ifc was reported that favourable replies had been received from all local bodies approached on the proposal to press for an. amendment to town board elections of representatives, and it was agreed to forward these replies to Mr. A. W. Hall, M.P., for presentation to tho Government. Ifc was decided, on consideration of a letter from tho Minister of Internal Affairs regarding polling hours, to ask permission to havo the hours for tile board's bi-ennial election in September extended from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., an extension of one hour. , Tho reserves committee recommended the kerbing and channelling of the Triangle reserve and the adjoiunig roads, tho installation of flood-lights at .a cost of £2O, and tree planting in Wilmay Avenuo and Otara Road. Ifc was reported that Mr. E. A. Price, of Cambrai Park, had generously offered to supply palms and shrubs for the now reserve at the Station Road end. Tho report was adopted.
