ROYAL HUNT CUP RAGE. VICTORY FOR THE MacNAB. LONDON, Juno 18. The Royal Ascot Meeting was continued to-day, when a heavy thunderstorm during tho running of tho Royal Hunt Cup caused tho course to bo under water, in parts and tho remuinder of the day's programme had to bo abandoned. Tho chief event resulted : ROYAL HUNT CUP, A Piece of Plate value £IOO, tdded to a sweepstake of £2O each, with £2OOO added for iho winner, second £3OO, third £200; 7 fur. and 165 yds. CunliiTeOwen's b hj, 4yrs, by Sir Galahad— Guerriere 11. 3 Twenty-two started. Won by half-a-length. __ The Mac Nab had only two races as a two-year-old, being unplaced each time. Last season, as a three-year-cjld, he started in eight races and won the Britannia Stakes, 7 fur. 166 yds., at Ascot, and tho Robert do Witville Handicap, 1} miles, at Sandown Parle. Ho is trained by F. Darling. ASCOT STAKES WINNER. ENGLISH SIRE IN FRANCE. Comrade, siro of Bonny Boy 11., winner of the Ascot Stakes on Tuesday, was ono of tho three English horses who carried off tho Grand Prix do Paris three years in succession, after tho Armistice. Galloper Light won in 1919, Comrade in 1920, and Lemonora in 1921. Comrade is by Bacholor's Double, out of Sourabaya, by Spearmint, son of Carbine. Ivisber and Minting, two other sires who figure in Comrade's pedigree, were also Grand Prix winners. Comrade won the race under tho colours of M. E. do St. Alary, who owns Bonny Boy 11., and ho has since proved most successful at the stud in France. TOTALISATOR INVESTMENTS. AUCKLAND DISTRICT'S LEAD. Statistics to be presented to the New Zealand Racing Conference show that so far during tho season 145 flat race meetings have been held. Tho stake money totalled £109,519, and the totalisator investments amounted to £4,881,387, excluding trotting ovents on galloping programmes. The Auckland district was easily tho largest as far as the totalisator investments wero concerned, putting through £1,737,233 10s; Wellington is next with £725,476, tnd then comes Canterbury, £409,549; Wanganui, £587,907; Hawke's Bay, £406,033; Dunedin, £317,357 10a; Taranaki, £240,456; Southland, £243,676; and Greymouth, £134,994. There are still eleven meetings to be held before tho season is through. At the samo .period last year tho total investments wero ' £4,466,055. WAIPA RACING CLUB. ACCEPTANCES CLOSE TO-DAY. Acceptances for tho "Waipa Racing Club's meeting to-morrow week will close at G p.m. to-<lajr with tho secretary, Mr. J. G. Wynyard. To Awamutu, or Messrs. Blomfield and Co., Auckland. LATE MR. J. BROWN'S HORSES. ) SEVENTY SOLD FOR, 4500GNS. The second sale of thoroughbred hones bred by tho lato Mr. John Brown was conducted in Sydney on June 10. The interest in the ealo wrw indicated by the largo attendance. Many wero onlookers, but the auctioneer did not find his task of making a clearance of the 71 lots offered very difficult, although ho was forced to accept small prices for some of . tho lots, particularly tho aged and out of condition horses. Sir Adrian Knox, to whom the breeder bequeathed his etud horses, attended tho sale, meeting tho market with each horse. Tliero were two distinct classes. Tho younger horses from Wills Gully were really good-looking, and competition for them waß keen. Thoy wero offered first, 23 selling at a total of 2740 guineas, or an average of nearly 120 guineas. Top price was 200 guineas. The major part of the draft, however. came direct from tho Darbalara paddocks. Many wero in Door condition, and all wore rough of coat. Nevertheless, to tho judges good bono was to be seen. Tho Randwick trainer,' D. Lewis, paid 200 guineas for Dear March, a five-year-old by March Along (imp.) from Duchess Dear, and F. McGrath gave tho same prico for Tarneta Glqss, a three-year-old by Wallace Isinglass—Tarnetu. Buyers secured geldings for all purposes. Some will race at A.R.C. meetings, some will bo tried as jumpers on tho racecourse, and others will appear in tho show ring as hunters. The total for tho sale was 4522J guineas. Tho only sales to New Zoalandcrs wore:— Dignified March, oh. g., 4 years, by. March Along—Lady Respect, F. Brown New Zealand, 160 guineas; Auckland Gas, ch. g., 4 yearß, by Air Balloon—Lady Webber, G. Browne, Now Zealand, 50 guiueas.
