PAPATOETOE INTERESTS.
MOVEMENT FOR FUSION. FURTHER MEETING TO BE HELD. Tho formation of ono combined body to promote and advance tho interests of Papatoetoo is practically assured as the result of a conference of representatives of the Papatoetoo Chamber of Commerce and local shopkeepers held on Wednesday evening. Mr. A. W. Hall, M.P., presided. Mr. N. McLeod, speaking for the shopkeopers, said they wero prepared to join in one movement, and only asked a sharo of representation on the executive and permission to act as tho trading or commerce sub-committeo. No official positions wore desirod by tho Shopkeepers' Association. Mr. IT. C. Ernest, president of the Chamber of Commerce, said his organisation was ogrooablo to combine. It was docided that a general meeting of the two organisations bo held on June 30, with Mr. T. R. Smytheman, chairman of the Town Board, presiding, and that members of tho Welfare League, who had declined to participate in any fusion, be asked to be present. The election of officebearers and the confirmation of tho title of the new organisation and declaration of its policy will be determined at the meeting.
