BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT. [I)Y TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PAPATOETOE. Wednesday. A movement for tho advancement of shopping arid business interests was dis- : cussed at a meeting of local shopkeepers at Papatoetoo this evening. I Thcro was a lengthy discussion on tho competition of hawkers, and tho,-opinion was expressed that a businessmen's association should he formed to deal with this and other questions. It was pointed out that there are two organisations in the district now, namely, tho Welfare League i and tho Chamber oi' Commerce, concerned witli Papatoetoe's development, and that the formation of a third body would be a further : division of energies. j lL was decided to appoint a sub-corn- • mittcc to draft details of (lie various ques- I tions concerning shopkeepers, and to invito the local Welfare League and Chamber of Commerce to meet the shopkeepers at an early date to discuss these matters.
