HOSPITAL BOARD'S LEVY.
ROAD METALLING WORK
[BY TELEGRAM. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PAPAKURA. Tuesday.
The Papakura Town Board met last evening, tho chairman, Mr. J. McCall, presiding. Advice that the levy upon tho Town Board for the corning year had been increased : by £4B was received from tho Auckland Hospital Board. Tho Rev. W. C. Wood said that the difficulties experienced in meeting the increased levy would be considerable. He thought that by economising the Hospital Board might bo able to reduce expenditure. • It,, was reported that the Department of Land's and Survey was prepared to grant £IOO. toward the . cost of draining an area of Kirk's Bush scenic reserve. It was decided to.accept tho offer.- ■
It was reported that the metalling of Wharf Street- hud been completed from Queen-Street to- the beach approach. The Clevedon highway, Bench Road, and Railway Street East, had been patched with blue metal. Grading operations bad been .carried Out' on tho Clevedon and Hunua highways, Beach Road and Wellington Street. • , ■ .
Approval whs given of an estimated expenditure of £420 on the main 'highways in tho district during the coining year.
