BODY IN HARBOUR.
FATE OF SHIP'S FIREMAN.
A verdict of death by drowning was returned yesterday by tho coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in concluding tho inquest into the death of Louis Paterson, ship's fireman, whoso body was found in tho harbour on April 30.
After evidence of identification had been given, Harold Bertram Banfield, nightwatchman. said that on the night of April 29 he was 011 duty opposite Sanfcirds, Limited, when he saw Paterson return to the trawler Thomas Currell, upon which ho was employed as fireman. • Deceased had had sonio drinks, but appeared to be quite sober. It was his custom to sleep on board tho trawler. Polico evidence was given of the finding of the. body. It was staled that it would have been possible for a man who was not sober to fall over tho low handrail on tho deck of' tho steamer.
The coroner returned a verdict of found drowned.
