Probables match prior to tho selection of tho New Zealand twain: — Bucks. —S. 11. Carleton, G. D. Inncs, J. Harris, N. P. McGregor, H. Lilburne, G. llart, W. Dalley, C. Oliver. Forwards. —A. I. Cottroll, J. T. Burrows, G. Scrimshaw, 11. F. Stewart, J. Manchester.

McGregor and Dalley were members of the 1Q24 team which toured Australia, tho United Kingdom, Franco and Canada in 1934. Carleton, McGregor, Lilburne, Dalley, Burrows. Scrimshaw and Stewart (then a South Canterbury representative) were in the All Black combination which went to South Africa, two seasons ago. Harris went to Australia with the New Zealand team in 1925 and Oliver, Cot troll, Carleton, Lilburne and Dalley were in the side which crossed the Tasman last season. Of Canterbury's thirteen nominees, therefore, ten have already won All Black honours.

NORTH ISLAND TRIAL GAME.

Whereas (lie South Island Possibles v. Probables match will not take place until the end of tho present mouth tlio North Island trial of a similar nature will be played in Palnierston North on Wednesday next. Seven Aucklanders will be participating in this match as follows: — Minns, Lucas, Corner, Solomon, Palmer, A. Knight, Batty. McWilliams and Thomas, Waikato, and Finlayson, North Auckland, will also bo plaving at Pahnerston North. The trial matches in each island will be followed by a New Zealand Possibles v. Probables match in Wellington, and following this the six New Zealand soleetors will announce their team to meet the Britishers in the. first test at Dunedin on June 21.

Gibbons (Wanganui), McLennan (Taihapc); half; Duncan (Wanganui); wing forward, Walden (Huntcrvilte); hookers, Lumsden (Rangitikei) and Lowry (Taihape); lock, Oxlev (Wainuiarua) ; Sides, L. Stewart (Wanganui) and Heise (Mangaweka); back row, G. Lockett (Wanganui) and Leahy (Taihape). Emergencies: Backs, .1. Morgan (Wanganui) and Graham (Taihape); forward, Ward (Wanganui).

The team will assemble on May 19 and will be coached by Mark Nicholls and Andv Mercer.

Dr. G. J. Adams, president of the New Zealand Union, will leave Wanganui on Tuesday to meet the British team. Their programme is to come to Wanganui on Friday and attend the winter race meeting. On the following Tuesday they will go on a trip up the river and will leave for New Plymouth on Thursdav.
