OBSCENE LANGUAGE USED
YOUNG MAN FINED £2
"You young ciil)s ought to ho taught, ruamicrs." .Mr. F. K. Hunt., S.M., remarked in the Police Court on Saturday, in fining Leslie James Matthews, aged 20, £2, in default seven days' imprisonment, on a charge "f using obscene language. Constable Gawler said that at about 2 a.m. on Saturday accused, in company with another youth arid two girls, was loitering near • Surrey Crescent. When told to move on, they laughed and accused used the language complained of. Found in Ireland Street irt ;i state of 'helpless drunkenness on Friday. Arthur Hopper, a seaman, pleaded guilt v. Accused was stated to have been in such a condition that a doctor had lo lie, called. Accused was ordered to pay expenses. A fine of £1 each was imposed on Ilelge Vigo Sorenson, aged 43, a Danish seaman, and Joseph South, aged 44, labourer, for fighting in Wellesley Street.
