ANTIQUE EXHIBITION.
A particularly interesting afternoon was spent at the League of Penwomen's rooms yesterday when the Arts and Crafts section . held an exhibition of antiques accompanied by short explanations by the exhibiting, members. Although there were not a. great many antiques shown owing to the fact that several who could have sent in their treasures had not known I about the show, what there was was of special interest. Among the most unusual was a pair of very old Persian vases, the date unknown, an Etruscan vase and an Admiralty book of naval instruction of the time of Nelson. An old and original edition of a book of travels was another interesting thing and there were also shown some exquisitely carved ivories, - miniatures, old crystal and silver, a wonderfully embroidered baby's long robe of many years ago, some beautiful lace and an exquisitely worked needle book in Chinese embroidery. A quaint teapot with a curious contrivance which practically pumped the tea into the cup. was also of much interest and so, too, was a frock of the leg-of-mutton sleeve period, most exquisitely hand-sewn. Mrs. Fletcher, convener of the section, was the organiser of the exhibition and the president of the league, Mrs. Stuart Boyd, thanked the exhibitors for their assistance. I
Included among these were: Mrs. Har-rison-Smith, Mrs. Tweedie, Mrs. Fletcher, Dr. Gladys Rowley, Mrs'. Vigors, Mrs. A. M. Ferguson, Mrs. Rayner, Mrs. Stuart-Boyd, Mrs. S. Wright, Mrs. Lewens, Mrs. Peacock, Miss Sweet. Miss Lloyd, Dr. Gladys Montgomery, Misses Melville (2), Mrs Brooks. Mrs. Tattle. Mrs. Osborne.
