DELAY TO EXPRESSES.
LIMITEDS ARRIVE LATE.
HOT-BOXES ON CARRIAGES.
Both the limited expresses from Wellington were late in reaching Auckland on Saturday, hot-boxes on carriages being the cause of the delay. The night train, which is due at Auckland shortly after nine o'clock in the morning, was an hour and a-lialf late, the trouble being on a de luxe sleeper. The express was held up between Marton and Taihape, and further time was lost on the run between Taihape and Te Kuiti.
Considerable inconvenience wa3 caused by the delay, as there were a number of business men on the train visiting the city to transact business during the morning. Many of these, from such places as Hamilton, were intending to visit Auckland for the week-end only, and they expressed themselves as very annoyed at the delay. The daylight limited, which is due at Auckland at 11.2 p.m., did not arrive until about 11.20, the cause of the delay being another hot-box on one of the first-class carriages. The express was held up for a short time at Mercer, and was further slightly delayed in making crossings with south-bound trains.
