PUMP FOR WATER SUPPLY.
REGATTA AT CHRISTMAS.

The borough engineer in his monthly report to the Borough Council states that the reduced rate for domestic cooking is proving very popular, and tho increaso in the sales of ranges is showing a record. Preparations are well forward in connection with the installation of a booster pump for the water supply. This pump will bo erected at Pye's Pa, and it will bo opbrated by electricity. ► The Borough Council's staff has begun the work of improving and bituminising tho Matamata main highway. This work is being done out of loan mouey. Tho Tauranga Regatta Club has issued its programme for tho annual regatta, to be held on December 27. There are over 40 launch, yachting, swimming, rowing and miscellaneous events. The rowing races, as hitherto, will bo a special feature. Tho Gisborne Rowing Club will probably be represented by several crews at tho regatta. Mr. H. Stevens is training a team of six pigoons, which will bo sent to Auckland and placed on one or more of the yachts competing in the ocean race, which will start from Auckland on Christmas Eve. Tho pigeon messages are greatly appreciated at this end, and enable the local officials to complete the arrangements for judging off Mount Maunganui.
