OPENING OF THE SEASON.

CONTESTS FOR ALL CLASSES.

DECLARATION OF HANDICAPS.

The offioial opening of tho yachting season in Auckland will tnke plnco to-morrow afternoon, when combined races- will bo held under tho auspioos of the Aucklund Yacht and Motor-Boat Association. Tho keel yachts, contreboard boat? aud launchea will ruco to Islington Bay, and tho 18ft. and under clftsses will compote over a harbour course. On tho wholo tho cntiics n,ic vety disappointing, several of tho chibs finding it necessary to cancel races for various classes owing to an insufficient number being received. All the clubs with the exception of the Royal NoW Zealand Yacht Squadron are taking part iu tho opening rr.ee. Very few of tho A class yachts are afloat, the recent unseasonable weather somowha* retarding fitting-out operations. All events will start between the tower on King's Wharf and a buoy moored north. Tho starting times for all events are aB follows:—A and B olasses, 2.20 p.m.; C and E, 2.28 p.m.; II nnd I classes, 2.3G p.m.; L and N classes, 2.44 p.m.; launches, 2.52 p.m.; M class, 3 p.m.; V class, 8.8 p.m.; Star class, 3.8 p.m.; S class, 3.16 p.m.; T, X and Y classes, 3.24 p.m.; Z class, 3.32 p.m. Tho following handicaps have been declared :
