RANSOMED CAPTIVES.
WEEK WITH BRIGAND GANG.
EXPERIENCE OF GREEKS. United Service. LONDON, Sept. 17. The Athens correspondent of the Manchester Guardian says that six captives, after having been in the clutches of Tzazas, (lie "gentleman biigand of Greece," for a week, were released on the payment of a ransom of £1333. The captives included Senator Hadjikaiti and his daughter.
Tzazas originally captured 100 holidaymakers at Tricala. He made the men turn out their pockets, took their names, retained tho wealthiest of them and sent in the remainder to Tricala with a demand for ransom.
Thousands of troops aud police now are scouring the mountains in search of tho gang, but it is feared their trail has been lost. Pursuit hitherto had been withheld owing to fears for the captives' lives.
