MORPETH STILL IN LEAD.
BRILLIANT SHORT PLAY.

In tiic second round of the Australian open golf championship at Seaton to-day Sloan Morpeth (New Zealand) strengthened his position by going round in 78, milking his aggregate score for the first two rounds 151.
He played round to-day with Polger, a New South Wales professional. Morpeth's driving was long and generally straight, but at times erratic. The wind was troublesome. He was repeatedly saved by his brilliant short play. The New Zealand professionals Shaw and Mcintosh took 85 and 84 respectively, making their aggregate scores for the two rounds 169 and 165. E. D. Uissett's total is 152. He was round today in 78. Ivo Whitton took 78, his total being 153. Eyre's total is also 153.
1./. Nettlefold took £O. and his score for (ho two rounds is 155. C'orrv (New South Wales), who tied with Morpeth yesterday with 73, to-dav too": 82. Jupp retired owing to a family bereavement. Ilufus Stewart, who is out of touch, took 84. His aggregate is now 161, and he has practically lost his chance.
