V Mr. J. Hollows, inspector of awards, eaid Wolfe engaged a man, and according to his wages book paid him a journeyman's rate of £4 19s a week. However, he had not paid him more than £4 a ■week and tho. engagement of this young man meant the displacement of a. bonafide journeyman. It was a serious offence and accused was liable to a fine of £SO. • Counsel for accused said Wolfe had acted out of kindness toward a boy who bad been out of work for some time.

"The law says ho must keep these /books and he must keep them correctly," thi' magistrate said. "He will be fined £2,0 with costs."
