OBITUARY.

PROFESSOR M. ATKINSON. Australian Press Association—United Service LONDON. May It. The death has occurred of Professor Meredith Atkinson, literary secretary to the New Health Society, London, aged 46. The late Professor Atkinson was born in January, 1883. Ho was educated at Hartlepool and Oxford. His university career was a distinguished one and ho was extension lecturer in economics at Oxford, 1912. Later lie went to Australia and was lecturer on economic history at Sydney University, 1914-17; professor and lecturer on sociology, Melbourne University, 1917-22. In the latter year lie was honorary commissioner in the Russian famine area and investigated relief work in the Balkans, 1925. He was editor of fho Review of Reviews (Australia and New Zealand)', 1922-25.
