SAFETY OF LIFE AT SEA. LATEST RECOMMENDATIONS. \ustralian Press •Association—United Service LONDON, May 14. The report of the International Conference on tho Safety of Life at Sea states that since the convention of 1914 inquiries have established the fact that a wide measure of agreement exists among the maritime nations on tho following points in the regulations for preventing collisions. The Committee on Navigation of the conference therefore recommends their adoption : (1) A compulsory second white masthead light on steamers 150 ft. long and upwards. (2) A compulsory permanent fixed stern light. (3) A compulsory special clay signal for sailing vessels with auxiliary motors. (4) A special sound signal for vessels lowed into a fog. (5) An international wireless telegraphy signal additional i to the international signals of distress already prescribed.
