GUN TAKEN FROM HOUSE.
ALLEGATIONS OF THREATS.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI, Wednesday. In the Magistrate's Court at Whangarei, beforo Mr. J. 11. Luxford, S.M., yesterday, Wilmont Parkin, a farmer, claimed £4O, the value of a gun, or £5 damages for its detention, from his son, Alfred Parkin. Plaintiff said tho gun had been presented to him when ho came out from England, and it was valued at £6O at the time. Whilo ho was away in Auckland tho gun disappeared. Ho found it in tho hands of tho police, and ho was at a loss to understand' why it had been taken there. A. Parkin said ho took the gun from his brother's room for safety's sake, as his father had once threatened to shoot him. 110 took the gun to the police station and afterwards placed it in a box in tho car shed. When ho received a demand for tho gun from his father's solicitor ho did not return it, because ho was afraid it would fall into his father's hands again. Tho gun had been broken during a strugglo with his father. The magistrate reserved his decision.
