PROSECUTION OF MOTORISTS.
PILLION RIDING ACCIDENTS.
" Accidents due to pillion riding have been happening lately, and we only want to enforce the regulations," said .SubInspector McCarthy, in tho Police Court yesterday, when M. S. Howie admitted a charge of pillion riding when there was only one footrest on the machine. A fine of 10s was imposed. For dangerous driving S. J. Gastafsen was fined £3, while It. A. Sloan, B. S. Waters and J. Watts were each fined £2, and B. Svkes was fined £l.
Failure to obey a traffic officer cost T. H. Tiplon £l. For having no mirror on his motor-car, L. C. C'lcdhill was fined 10s.
Fines of 10s were imposed on F. W. D. Gray, S. lloiden, L. Banks, L. Mubbs and C. 1). Hosking for having failed to produce their licences on demand. Penalties of 10s were imposed on the following motorists who had insufficient lights on their vehicles:—E. Bowden, L. Montoith, C. G. Parker, T. licid, F. Slingcr and C. Urquhart. Crossing a railway lino when it. was not clear cost J. Watson 10s. I. M. Skerritt was fined £1 for failing to giveway to a vehicle on tho right. For cycling on a footpath, P. Chrvstal and J. Iv. Browno were each fined 10s. W. Bishop was fined 10s for having no light on his bicycle. On a. charge of " cutting " a corner, A. 11. Ilovlance was fined £l.
