CHAMPION SWIMMER.
BORG TO VISIT AUSTRALIA.
CHARLTON MAY NOT COMPETE.
Andrew Charlton, the Australian swimming champion, has decided not to compete against Arne Borg or any other oversea swimmer who may visit Australia during the approaching season, says a Sydney paper. An indication of his intentions was given in a letter received by an official of the New South Wales Swimming Association. There are some officials, however, who consider Charlton may be induced to reconsider his decision. He will return tp Sydney about Christmas time.
Soon after his return from abroad Charlton left for Gunnedah, where he is preparing for a career on the land. When the New South Wales Association learned that Borg intended to visit Sydney again the honorary secretary, Mr. Bruce McDonald, wrote to Charlton informing him of Borg's projected visit. The Swedish champion will arrive in Sydney on January 1, and it is his present intention to remain only a month. Mr. H. Jl. Kelly, of the Australian Swimming Union, hopes the visitor may extend his visit, thus enabling him to take part m swimming events in the other capital cities. Borg will receive firstclass hotel and travelling expenses.
