LATE COLONEL ANDREWS.

FUNERAL AT WAIKUMETE. MILITARY HONOURS ACCORDED. Tho remains of tho late Lieut.-Colonel C. E. Andrews, 0.8. E., N.Z.S.C,, wera laid to rest yesterday in a simple soldier's plot in the Waikumete Cemetery, Full military honours were accorded. Tho 13th Coast Battery of the New Zealand Territorial Artillery formed the escort, and they wero followed in the funeral procession by a firing party from the Royal New Zealand Artillery. The casket, borne on a gun-carriage, was enshrouded in a Union Jack, and was surmounted by the deceased officer's cap, bell and sword. Warrant officers from the New Zealand Permanent Staff carried the rasket to the gun-carriage and to the graveside, the pall-bearers being Major W. C. Finnis, Major H. C Glendinning, Major R. Miles, Captain G. H. Clifton, Captain J. G. C. Wales and Captain G. Dittmer. MajorGeneral R. Young, C'.B., C.M.G., D.5.0., general officer commanding the military forces, and representatives of tho various branches of and oi the Officers' Club were among the mourners. The ceremony at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. Angus Mac Donald, chaplain to the forces, and as the funeral saluta was fired four trumpeters from the Auckland Grammar School Cadets sounded tho Last Post.
