MISSIONARY UNION.

The morning session of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union was occupied on Friday with hearing reports of the various activities of the union, and in tlie afternoon the annual meeting took place in St. David's Church. The moderator, the Rev. Professor Hewitson, occupied the chair. On the platform wero Mrs. Robb, president of tho union, and other olficers, also several missionaries who represented various fields. An interesting address appreciative of the work of women in tho church was given Liy tho moderator. 'I ho annual report and balance-sheet were adopted, after which Nurse James, one of tho missionaries from Canton, gave an interesting talk 011 China. Sho mentioned that-the political conditions there had altered for tho better—quito a friendly feeling had taken tho placo of' the boycott of Britain. Her Pluiikci training sho had found invalu-, able. She was the only Plunket nurse in South China, and by her teaching 25 per cent, of the babies were being saved.. The opportunities for women and girls were greatly altered, universities being open to them, medical schools and even theological halls. Sister Dorothy, who works among the Maoris, was another speaker. Sho had a very high opinion of them and called them nature's gentlemen.
