FANCY DRESS BALL.

.A joyous festivity marked the occasion of the first fancy dress ball held for tlio children of To Pa papa School. The grand inarch provided a kaleidoscope of colour and spoke much for the originality of the competitors.

The prize-winners were:—(l) Most original dress, bov—Victor GrifliUis, Butcher; girl, Pearl James, Grandma, and IServl S;mdford. Cracker: (2) best fancy dress, boy— Laurie Davis, l'ajah; gii'l, J i >}'<■<• Bent lev, Butterfly. Jn the folk dancing the prize was won by the. Old English set. composed of Daphne Brown, Maisic Pickson. Laura .lack.sou, I' nt It Robertson, Marjorio Cubitt and Elsie Wood.

Consolation jjriz.es went to Muriel Longley, Spider; Alma Cousins, Pose; Valerio Marks, Iceland Poppy; Esmo Fulton, .lack in the Box; Betty Harper, Grassho|)per: Nancy and Madge Golsbury, Peterkin Twins, Boosters; Ken Hosking, Scarecrow; Dug McDonald, Maori; Des Ellis, Prohibition; B. Bawlinson, Hawaiian Bov; Mary Manson, Japanese Lady; Allan Austin, Santa Clans; Boy Spalding, Cowboy. The work of the judges, Mrs. Mainland and Miss McGregor, was difficult, and to them and to the committee, esj)ceinlly to Mr. E. Marks, is duo the notablo success of tlio evening.
