FANCY COSTUME DANCE.
JUVENILES OF BIRKENHEAD.
A very successful children's fancy dress parade and dance was held at Birkenhead on Saturday afternoon, in aid of the school sports ground fund. The various character costumes made an attractive spectacle in the brilliant sunshine as tlio procession mado its way along the main street to the Buffaloes' Hall in Mokoia Road. About 200 took part in the dance at this hall, where afternoon tea was served, and various games played. Every child received a itag of sweets. "Flic awards of tlio judges, Mrs. F. Original: Joyce Paltridge, Indian girl, and Elaine Kelly, tin soldier. Five Years to 10.—Best dressed girl and hoy: Florence Malionev and Kirk Loggie, lirido and bridegroom. Paper dress: Verona Salt, ox-eye daisy, and Christopher Paltridge, Bed Indian. Poster: Audrey Pike, chocolates, and Clifford Fitzgerald, champion flour. Original: S llastie, hatter, and Jennie Burgess, vegetable vendor. Ten Years to 14.—Best, dress: Joyce Jpvonica, Japanese girl; Doreen Wrightsun. llowrr girl, and J. Chiplin, rose. Poster: Walter Pugh, a newspaper, and Gladys Howarth, Bournevillo cocoa. Original: Jack and Bessie Fenton, Dick Whittington and cat. The arrangements were carried out by a ladies' committee, under the supervision of Mrs. J. Gracie.
