John Sutherland, aged 49, of Whangarci, New Zealand, a recent arrival in Sydney, formed the acquaintance 'of < Dennis Finn In the city, and was told n story about, a c?ne farm in Queensland which Finn wa§ supposed to own. , . Finn induced - Sutherland to advance , money for implements, on the promise that Sutherland would, be employed on the farm at a wage of £1 Is a day. Sutherland went to Brisbane, where ho discovered that he had been duped. He was compelled to walk nearly the wholo way back to Sydney, as ho had no money. Ho told his story in a city Police Court. Finn, who was described by the magistrate as a heartless fellow, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment.
